Default OS .284 with OTA Today themes doesn't work

Please Login to Remove!

It was worth a try. I loaded the Rogers OS .284 and had the App Loader restore my OTA versions of the Today themes.

My OTA updated Vodafone theme disappeared, and the OTA Vodafone Today theme disappeared from my listing of available themes (although it appears in the Options Applications list). Not sure what happened there...

Dimension Today loaded but it just didn't work right. All icons on the homescreen took me to the Messages inbox, the Calendar and Call Log displayed very wierd results, and the little menu icon at the bottom wouldn't even highlight let alone work. On the positive side the centre convenience key still worked and the function of the Blackberry otherwise seemed okay although I didn't test it much. Altogether an interesting failure.

Back to Telstra... This time I am going to try running Vodafone Today with the older Telstra Vodafone theme (not the update). The Telstra Vodafone is my favourite of the traditional icon themes. We will see if a battery pull can still solve the ghost SMS problem in Vodafone Today as it does in combination with the newer Vodafone theme. I'l report back in this thread.

Okay, so this is interesting. I reinstalled Tesltra and this time I used jibi's preferred method of unzipping the Today themes and putting them in the java folder before installation.

I did not install the updated Vodafone theme but stayed instead with the original Telstra version. As noted, the Vodafone Today theme draws upon the Vodafone theme (as well as the Dimension Today theme). The result is that while the Vodafone Today screen itself has the new green cast, the menus and appications are all in the original gray of the Telstra Vodafone theme. I like this a lot!

Interestingly I am not getting the SMS ghost bug problem at all so I can't say whether a battery pull would solve it. It's looking like a great installation. Highly recommended.
