Question What kind of user should have Blackberry Unite? - 05-19-2008, 10:09 PM

I am reading a lot of negative feedback regarding Blackberry Unite and was wondering:

What kind of user is this product geared for?

Has anyone gotten Unite up and running and are happy with it and what it does?

Thanks-

simpson

parents that want to monitor/control what their children can and cannot do with the device
small business, or business "teams" of users that have shared calendar/contacts on top of the BES (or without it) and sharing files (aka presentations and things).

Sith-

Thanks for the response. I have seen that description, but what I am looking for is some real-world experience from some people who have installed version 1.0.0 of Unite and are making it do what they need/want it to.

Most all that I have seen are people bashing it for the policy changes and the hassles that have ensued...

Well I can say that I have had it installed for about a week now and have not seen much of any issues. My wife and I use it to share our calendar and thats about it. Would like to see more features, maybe in the second version.

Good for small workgroups or if you get your entire family on Blackberries then as a parent you can manage the kids usage. Control costs. Monitor call logs and such. If they misbehave...deactivate their phone temporarily ;)

Do you have to be on BES to use it. I use TMO with web connect so does this install on a PC and the BB communicates back to it? Does something also install on the BB?

I have read a good deal but I have no idea how it works.

What kind of computer should this be loaded on: a laptop that is on most of the day or a dedicated PC that is on 24-7?

Now if I put this on my laptop for now, how easy will it be to transfer the information to my desktop (since i recently moved and have to set it up)?

Will it retain the information while the laptop is off and add it when it turned back on?
