Default What happens if PC is off? - 07-18-2008, 10:45 AM

I'm planning on installing Unite! at some point, but I was wondering -- does it have to be installed on a dedicated system that is always on?

What are the ramifications if the machine running Unite is turned off? Can I still access shared calendar, or do I just not get email during that period?

Thanks...

Wirelessly posted (T-Mobile 8120)

I'd imagine that you need to keep the host pc on, unless they store your info on their servers....

You would not get new email on your Unite mail account(s), you could read your Calendar entries and make updates, but the updates would not go to the server, and you would not receive updates from the server. If your browser is set to Unite, you would not be able to browse the internet. The download manager and remote device control would not work.

Can you have your email accounts set up both from the UNITE and the BIS?

Yes you can, and when the Unite server is down, the BIS mail still works.

The last time I had multiple mailboxes set up on my Unite account then all get merged into on inbox on the device. I don't know if you can pick which account to originate mail from via Unite the way you can via BIS.
