The Curve series (83xx) has outsold the iPhone for Quarter 1 of 2009. The iPhone picked up 2nd place in smartphone sales, followed by BlackBerry's Storm, Pearl, and finally, the Android-powered G1.

Not very hard when you consider the Curve is available on every carrier vs the iphone's single carrier.

Or, put another way, all those BlackBerry users had to find a carrier, while AT&T scored record quarters because EVERYONE ON THE STINKIN' PLANET knew where to find an iPhone. They just followed the herd to the meadow of the Death Star!

BTW, when I entered the search term "iPhone herd" into Google, here was the number one result, proving that the herd had it easier to find an iPhone than people looking for a Curve!

You know ArgonNJ, I used to own an HTC PPC6800. I used to both post and follow threads at a couple of Windows Mobile sites. Now I have a BlackBerry and I post here. I feel no need to go troll the WinMo forums to justify my BlackBerry ownership.

Bet they sell a ton these. This is what the fence sitters have been waiting for.

It will be interesting to see, especially in light of the upcoming 3Gs release. Many may opt to wait for that.

EDIT: This could also backfire on AT&T as many who couldn't afford the iPhone now take advantage of it, not taking fully into account the two year data plan charges.
