Default jawbone inserts falling off - 12-05-2007, 11:52 AM

It turns out that for me, the best ear insert for the jawbone is the circular one. I tried them all for a handful of days each, and for me the results were:

the elongated ones stayed on the jawbone, they didn't twist and fall off, they were the most comfortable, but the volume was the lowest.

the circular one falls off the jawbone, is the least comfortable, but its the loudest.

Of course this will vary user to user based on ear shape.

SO, whats a boy to do?
I heard that some users are using third party ear inserts, if so, what are they, where can I get them, and do they work?

Thanks!

Get the Jabra Ear Gels. The longest on. You will have to wiggle it on the post of the Jaw Bone but it by far the most comfortable set-up and as a bonus it's SO loud you will never go past half volume!!

Hey mister, any certain jabra gel, or what?

So I would remove the Jawbone ear insert and place the Jabra there, or cover the Jawbone ear insert with the Jabra?

Remove jawbone then place the desired jabra ear gel on!

I forget the specific one I use but it is shaped to fit the ear and kind of lock in place with the ear

JS, I wish I could post a pic for ya but can't right now. Yes, remove the ear insert off of the post. Stretch the Jab Ear Gel directly over the post. I was cautioned not to push it too far down as it will cover a whole in the back of the post (which I was told is a mic for background noise. Mine sits covering half the whole. Some have glued them on but mine has stayed minus the glue without any issue. I have never been happier with the fit of a head-set. Some people quit using the ear loop but I still use mine.

I got mine from a verizon store... I ended up shaving the soft plastic off the jawbone peice and then gluing the jabra gel to the hard plastic and it now attaches with the 1/2 turn just like the supplied peices.

the other benefit is you can throw the ear hanger away!

Thanks for the help guys, I finally got the gel inserts.

First, they were tough to find, everyone said "yeah, we have them.... oh, we are out of stock." D'oh. Finally I found them at my Verizon store for about $3, nice!

You do have to wiggle them on, but that just means that they stay on.
I tried taking the hanger off, the ear piece stays in "ok", but it feels like its going to fall off, so I put the hanger back on. With the gels on securely its much easier to put the unit on with the hanger.

My inserts don't look at all like the photo that kjo posted. The gels that I got look just like the supplied plastic ones, except they are gel and they stay on.
