Default Unable to pair a BT HS850 to an 8310 - 12-21-2007, 10:38 PM

I recently purchased two 8310's for me and my wife and have two Motorola HS 850 headsets that work well. My wife was unable to use her headset today as it did not seem to want to connect to her 8310. For some reason I can pair both headsets to my curve, but none to hers. It seems as I try and pair them to hers, the blue connectivity light turns on, but nothing else happens and the menu doesn't even recognize that the headsets are connected. The headsets work. What could have happened?

Realized that while I'm trying to pair the BB and the BT headset, the screen of the BB says "Waiting for HS850" Continues to do this while the BB bluetooth light blinks, but does not give me a "pairing completed" message.

Hi Fdiaz!

I wanted to post my similar issue in this thread instead of creating a duplicate. I feel your frustration as I am having the same problem with my wife's 8310! I have two headsets, Plantronics 330 and a Motorola H500, both of which connect just fine to my Blackjack.

When trying to connect either headset to the 8310 sometimes I will get an "Unable to connect" message and other times I will get a prompt for the headset passcode. After entering "0000" and hitting the scroll ball I will get the same "Unable to connect" message. Here are the "fixes" I have tried.

- Disabled bluetooth>reboot phone>enable bluetooth: Still unable to connect.
- Tried different methods of entering 0000. (carriage return, clicking scroll ball): still unable to connect.
- Made sure the headsets can connect to a different phone.

It seems that there may be an issue with the bluetooth installation on the 8310. I'm all out of ideas. Both headsets are listed as compatible with the 8310. Can anyone please help

Default More research - 12-27-2007, 12:59 PM

Fdiaz,

After doing some more research it looks like it may be a problem with the OS that comes on the curve. When I get home from work today I am going to spend some time trying to update or downgrade the OS to see if it fixes the issue. I'm glad I decided to go with a Blackjack but I'm bummed I'll have to deal with these bugs for my not so tech savvy wife.

Default AT&T 8310 to Jawbone Bluetooth Headset - 02-16-2008, 04:02 PM

Adding to issues and witnessed behavior.

BB 8310 on AT&T, OS: 4.2.2.170, Platform: 2.5.0.30 (which is the latest as per RIM website.

I can pair the Jawbone to the 8310 as expected. However, during a call the audio will just cut out. I scramble to select 'activate handset' and continue the conversation. Sometimes it does not have any issues, i.e. call is heard in the Jawbone -- other end can hear me fine.

I was thinking the Jawbone may be a problem so I paired the device to another Blackberry (VZW 8703) and a VZW Krzr. No issues at all or symptoms as I see on the 8310.

When re-pair the Jawbone to the BB 8310, works for a few calls then the 'intermittent' behavior starts again. Pretty sure it is not the Jawbone device. I need to get anohter Bluetooth device to try connecting to the BB 8310.

My guess is that there is some type of a problem with the code on the BB. ANyone else having Bluetooth issues?

If I may jump in here.

1. make sure the bluetooth device is fully charged.

2. make sure that the bluetooth device is not already actively paired with another phone before you try to connect, but if it is, disable that connection before you make an attempt to pair it with another phone.

3. make sure the bluetooth device is in pairing mode before you try to make a connection with the phone.

4. GOOD LUCK!!!

When you turn on your phone, does it return the favor? Welcome to BlackBerry!

Default Continued Issue with Jawbone and BB 8310 - 02-23-2008, 11:25 AM

Okay, thought I would share this new info -- but still not fixed.

I bought another Jawbone device, as my wife and daughter want to try using a Bluetooth device. As I used mine to test with the two other cell devices in my house. As I stated before, the Jawbone works fine with the other two devices (BB VZW 8703 and a Moto Krzr).

The new one (actually used from eBay), paired fine to my 8310. Made a couple of calls and everything was fine. Then, same issue -- audio drops. The BB 8310 'blue light' is still flashing. I switch to handset during call and continue to talk in my conversation. When done, I go into manage connections and un-check bluetooth and get a 'Jawbone Connection Terminated' message -- confirming, I would think, that the Jawbone is still connected.

I take the new Jawbone and go through a complete re-connect/pair process on the BB 8703 (delete any instance of a bluetooth device first, and deletion and turn off Bluetooth on Moto Krzr and 8310). Pair to BB 8703 successfully. Works for 20+ calls with no problem.

Really think there is some type of BT protocol implementation issue with the 8310. I have reloaded the BB 8310 OS (same as what came with the device from AT&T, as it is the same version currently available on the RIM web site).

Last thing I am doing is waiting for a new BB 8310 from AT&T. Will post those results.
