Shopping for BlueTooth Headset! Any Recommendations? -
07-17-2005, 01:13 PM
So I think it's about time to go Bluetooth with my 7290 T-mobile handset.
I heard from a T-Mobile source that Motorola makes the best ones.
But C-NET.com raves about the Plantronics. I sort of like the sleeker, tidy, smaller look of the motorolas. I don't wantthe big-tubular Jabra brand headsets hanging off the side of my head.
Any advice on good bluetooth headsets?
Sound and Talk-time is also just as important as form and size for me.
Thanks

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

it seems ALL headsets have some issue or the other. If the sound quality is great then it will be bulky uncomfertable. Or if it is comfortable and small then the sound quality will be bad...
so far teh Jabra BT800 seems really cool....

The Motorola 810 or 850 or if you use it in a noisy environment a lot the Sony-Ericsson HBH 300.

I just received my Plantronics M2500 on Thursday evening and so far I love it. The sound quality is adequate for my environments and it is very comfortable. There is a slight hum when the volume is at the higher levels. However, with price ($42 shipping incl) being so low I think that the hum is just fime.

I've used the Motorola HS-810, HS-850, the Plantronics M3000, and the Voyager 510. Of those, I'd recommend the Plantronics Voyager 510 as it has the best balance of audio quality (both ends) and comfort in my opinion. Just keep in mind what matters most to you when reading reviews.

Got a plantronice M3500 a few weeks ago and it's great. The noise cancelling on it works so well people complement me on how much clearer I sound on it than I did just using the blackberry handset. It's prefect, and i've never experienced all the low volume issues that people claim exist in the 7290.

I want to know what one actually fits the best also. Anyone have suggestions for a good overall headset? Some of the prior reviews are old...I have the Jabra boom and want to get something a little smaller...

Here has been my experience pairing with my 7250:
HS850 - Bad echo
BT250 - Great comfort, but picked up too much ambient noise and plastic cracked
Logitech - Great voice quality, unique clip caused alot of ear irritation
Voyager 510 - best bet and a keeper, very good voice quality and good comfort

Okay I just learned that the Jabra BT200 caller's id does not sync with your BB caller list. All it does is show the numbers...not names. Doesn't quite cut it when you have about 300 names stored in your address book, plus that BT800 is way too expensive still, even on ebay...I Keep hearing great things about the Motorola HS820 so I'm swinging for that right now.
thanks guys

I post a few days ago, I tested a moto hs820 and I also bought the voyager 510, in fact, the voyager aerrived yedterday and I am very please with it so far. HS820 is small and I think both are as good. I would buy the HS820 as well In the future so I can do a side by side comparison. As I stated the voyager is 50 doillars shipping included. Can't beat that.

I have a nextel Blackberry 7520 and have used it with both the HS810 and HS820. I would not reccomend either. WIth both, I experice distortion and scratchieness. With the HS810, many people on the other end complaind of too much back ground. With the HS820, may people complainded that I was too soft. There is a newer model the HS850, which nextel reccomends not to use it with the 7520 ( http://nextelonline.nextel.com/en/pr...ds_free.shtml). I'm not sure if this is limited only to the 7520, but they sure dont seem to function well with motorola bluetooth
I have tried a jabra, I for get what model, but in essance the quality on my side was very simialr to the hs810 and hs820. Im not sure how it is percevied on the other end; did not keep it long enough to get opinions.
I have recently purchased a sony ericsson HBH600. I could not belive the clarity on my end, there was absolutly no scratchieness. People on the other end said they could barely tell a diffrence between my the blackberry mic and the headset. I liked it so much that I went head and ordered the HBH660. It is an upgraded model with longer talk/standby times and also has a tiny lcd readout. I'm hopping this display will work with my bb.
So far, my only complaint is that it is a bit more bulk then the motorola ones. Also, it speaker does not sit directly over the ear canal (this is by design and might add to the better sound quality i suppose). This make it some what unbalanced and wiggles around when your head move at certan angles.

The M3500 has been the best audio quality on a Bluetooth headset we have ever tested. The downside to the 3500/3000 is the fit... only a few users seem to think it's comfortable.

This is a question not a challenge to your statement. Have you tried the Sony Ericsson HBH600 or HBH660?

SmartphoneDepot, I agree with your evaluation on sound quality. Since you are a dealer for Plantronics, ask them if they would consider incorporating the noise cancelling technology of the 3500 into a smaller unit with a more comfortable fit. Right now the V510 is the best compromis solution I have tested but I really like the form of the Flamingo unit. With the nice single piece construction and the earclick technology, I can carry the unit in a pocket or on the neck strap and pop it in my ear when needed to answer a call. It doesn't interfere with my glasses (sun or reading) making it a snap to use. Too bad its noise cancellation is not on par with the Plantronics units.

HS850 Works GREAT! -
08-07-2005, 05:08 AM
I've used the HS850 on my Samsung, Sony ERicsson and my friend's BB 7100t and they all worked great. Pairing was a snap, clarity is good, and you forget its on you ear half the time!

i have used a number of bluetooth headsets with my 7520 with mixed results - here's the quick rundown.
scala 500 - sound was good with decent volume - callers had no complaints. the only drawback was the fit, not at all secure.
hs-820 - incoming sound was fairly soft, outgoing sound was barely audible, fit was somewhat secure, flip to answer was a really nice feature
hs-850 - same as above with uber cool black housing and very long battery life
hbh-660 - just got this last week and now i have a headset i actually like using. incoming volume is great, outgoing volume is problem free, pairing and answering/ending calls is a snap. i am now using this headset with a jabra ear gel and the highest volume setting is way too loud. caller id does work (numbers only though). i highly recommend this set to any 7520 owner.
out if curiosity: does anyone know if you can dial last number from this headset? the owners manual doesn't say anything about it, and my attempts have all been unsuccessful.
