Default Jawbone Came apart - 03-24-2008, 01:17 PM

Hi All:

Everytime I charge my jawbone BT I have a hell of a time unplugging it from the charger. Today, after it was finished charging, I went to pull out the BT and the top part came off and was stuck in the charger/connector. I was able to pull the piece out of the charger and put it back on, however, this seems to be a problem everytime I charge the thing..

Has anyone else had problems with charging and or with the connector getting stuck?? It should not be sticking this much..

thanks

YES YES YES.

I have the very same issue, and you are one of many I have noticed mention it. I was actually about to write Aliph an email (for whatever it is worth) about the issue week before last before I left town. So, thank you for reminding me!

i THINK aliph will warranty this..

If not try the store where you bought it from. Most places will exchange that.

Thanks for the quick replies, I thought I was gone crazy and or had heavy hands. Regardless, we shouldn't have to worry about the thing breaking apart each time we charge it.

I am going to write Aliph an email as well!! I will post back when I hear something, hopefully they will do something about this..

The best way to take it off is to go for one side, not both when you pull. "Flick" the connector off with your thumb on one side of it. If that makes sense?

They have not replied to me, and it has been about a week.

Aliph is about to lose one of THE biggest fans and promoters they have.

My first one broke the same way too. It is clearly a design fault. I bought it from Wireless Wave and they have a one year replacement policy. So they gave me a new one with no complaint.

Adding to other posters comments about carefully removing from the charger, I lightly insert it just enough that the charging light turns on. The time it broke I think I had pressed it into the charger fully.

Ridiculous to have to baby it like this. And ridiculous that Aliph hasn't fixed the problem since this model has been out for a long time now.

I have a Jawbone that is over 8 months old, maybe more, and never experienced this issue. Today, I just got a new Jawbone for my wife. I immediately noticed that the part of the charger that connects to the Jawbone is slightly different than my old one: it has slight lips, or elongations, that make it fit on more securely.

BUT, it is also very hard to remove. As soon as I tried, I thought the whole thing was going to come apart. I am not sure what to do about this, but it is clear to me that with the amount of force it takes to remove the charger, teh Jawbone is going to break apart sooner or later.

Default How to Remove Charger from Jawbone - 04-18-2008, 06:50 AM

I wrote to Jawbone about the difficulty of removing the charger from the headset. I thought the response might help others who have the same issue:

From Jawbone:
To remove the USB charger cable from the Jawbone properly, perform the steps listed below:

1. With the top of the Jawbone facing up, hold the Jawbone in one hand.
2. With your other hand, grasp the cap of the USB charger cable on the top and bottom (not the sides) with your thumb and forefinger.
3. Gently bend the cap of the USB charger cable downward and away until the Jawbone is disengaged. (Note: Do not pull the charger cable straight off laterally using a lot of pressure, as this may damage the charger pins.)

Default Update - 05-26-2008, 09:28 PM

Hi all:

Just to update you on this. The headset finally broke for good which prompted me to call. The company where I bought the Jawbone from originally closed but opened under a different name but I found them. I was literally one week out of warranty and the company said they could not replace the headset!!

I then called Aliph and they too tried to say I was out of warranty etc.. After a few minutes arguing with them that this is a known problem and that I am only one week out of warranty, they decided to send me a brand new headset.

The company is well aware of this problem, I would definatly call or write them if you are having the same issues.
