Default Plantronics Voyager 510 - 07-21-2005, 06:37 AM

Just a quick note on the new Plantronics Voyager 510. It is terrific. I had a Motorola HS850 which I really liked, but it stopped working. Based on reports from others here, and the fact that the Moto only lasted 8 months, I decided to try the Plantronics. No regrets. It pairs and works quickly and easily and operaties in Handsfree mode with my 7100g. Sound quality is great. I get no complaints from anyone and I hear people perfectly. It also has a foam windscreen for the mic. Even in wind, or with the A/C on ful blast in my face in the car, nobody has said a word about the sound quality. I have not performed any formal tests. As long as nobody says, "I can't hear you," "you sound like you're in a fishbowl or on a speakerphone," or "it sounds really noisy or windy," I am satisfied and assume they hear me fine.

I have two minor issues:

1. I liked that the HS850 shut off when the mic was closed. You could then answer the phone using the handset if the mic was closed. I find myself answering the phone with the handset, but hearing nothing, because the headset is on and paried and the call is automatically transferred there when it rings. I would prefer it if it unpaired when a call ended, and required a press of a button to repair it.

2. I liked the over the ear design of the HS850 because I found it more comfortable. The Plantroncis inserts slightly in your ear, which starts to bother me after a while. It does come with 3 different size ear insert things, and I am still experimenting.

Just thought othere would be interested.
