Default Bluetooth Review and Final Purchase

Hello all, I have a BB 8830 with Verizon and was always a fan of the wired boom mike hands free. I loved that thing but hence, I ran it over ( I know not something you should do to something you love) so I decided to venture out into the world of BT Technology. What a mess. I finally found one that I think is a keeper, and will tell about it plus the others that I have tried and what happened to them.

First, the one I have and think I will keep. The Bluetrek X2-2 with Hummer printed on it, I purchased from the verizon store for 49.99. This unit has the fit that I was looking for, with a good rubber cushion for the speaker that fits into my ear and a nice hook or hoops that will hold it on, though the boot on the speaker does that as well, its water resistant so no worries in the rain, and the sound is pretty good too. Many people have commented that they did not know I was on a BT so that is what I wanted. Now on my end, sometimes the other person can sound a little like they are in a tin can talking to me, but if they can hear me well, and the fit is very good, I can live with that. Pairing was very easy too.

Now the Experiments -

Motorola 89199N - Small, cheap and worthless. Everyone said I sounded like I was in a tunnel. the little ear hook was too thin to keep on my ear, and it came off the unit very easy.

Jabra BT 125 - One of the better sound quality that I had, but I got so frustrated because the ear hook was pliable, so I could get it to fit on my ear once in every 15 tries. The speaker is not the best either for fit, never really went in my ear.

Jabra BT8040- Total frustration. This was to fit in the ear without an ear hook to hold it in place, yeah right. I have no idea whose ear this would work in but not mine. sound was not as good as the 125 either, many complaints about me being in a box. Not the cheapest either at 80 bucks.

Jabra JX10 - had it for two days, the sound was not as good as I thought for a 250 dollar unit took it back. Gave up on Jabra!

That I think rounds it out. Now mind you please, these are my opinions on the units that I had and tried. If you have one of these and it works great for you, Super, please don't bash my reviews they are just my experiences.

No worries. Everybody learns from everybody here. What works for me may not work for you. I use a Jawbone headset, most people like it, some don't, and that's OK. I tried a dozen headsets before I settled on Jawbone. I gathered a lot of my information off this site looking for headsets to try. Your reviews are very much appreciated.
