Default announced: JawBone 2.0 - 05-15-2008, 10:41 AM

Aliph Announces the New Jawbone Bluetooth Headset | CrackBerry.com

Aliph has kicked things up a notch in the Bluetooth world as they today announce the next generation of Jawbone Bluetooth headset. The original Jawbone has been one of the most popular and widely-talked about Bluetooth headsets ever made, and for good reason - it's sound quality is second to none.
So how do you make the best even better? Make it 50% smaller, improve upon the already stellar sound quality and give it a new fashionista-approved look. We'll be getting these babies in stock at ShopCrackBerry.com shortly, so stay tuned. In the meantime, you can still pick up the original Jawbone for $89.95. More details on Jawbone 2.0 after the jump.

Can you hear your music and ringtones through the new device?

Picked one up today to use w/ Verizon Curve. I must say I was even more excited about this one that the 1st, with one major item of concern (in a second). It is half the size, sleek and smooth. The "look" factor is a matter of opinion, but IMHO, I like it. Fits, nice and they changed the earbuds to a "pull away" circular rubber ring that comes in 3 sizes. I had modified the original jawbone with a jabra earpiece to increase the sound volume (which it did tremendously) and you can do the same with this, but it certainly kills the "look" factor. However, the earbuds that came with it felt better and it is much easier to put on than the older one because of the style of loop they used. The new loop is just that, a loop. Outbound quality I am still testing, but a couple clients have said I sound "tinny" with AND without the "Noise Assassin".

The major concern is the inbound quality. While I did not experience volume (low) issues with this unit like the original, the inbounding sound was definately "tinny". Like it was being dsp'd into a tin can. It is actually quite horrible. I did the reset as instructed on Aliph's website, disabled/enabled my bluetooth on my phone and re-added the device with the same result.

I am going back tomorrow to try a different one as I'm hoping (which is sad unto itself) that it is just this unit.

Will report back changes, good or bad. Maybe new isn't always better as I have loved my original, but it has been superglued back to health more than necessary and I was holding out for the new one.

PS. The charger is still the same cradle with a twist. It magnetically attaches to the back of the headset so it is definately easier to remove or insert, but finding a car unit becomes another pain in the arse as I don't know if you can buy seperately as the store has been down every time I tried to look.
