Default Headsets and Keyboards ONLY? NOT! - 08-16-2005, 04:50 PM

I have to say that I started laughing when I finally visited this part of the forum. In particular, I laugh at the notion that BlackBerry BlueTooth only works with Headsets and Keyboards. Both of these bluetooth items add no NEW functionality to the unit. You can still make a phone call without a wireless headset and you can still type on the built in keyboard.

I use a bluetooth device on a daily basis that has integrated just fine with my 7520 AND it add NEW functionality!

Any guesses? It isn't GPS (something the 7520 also already has built in)....

What would be the point of bluetooth if they just made previously available functions wireless?

This should be interesting....
Anybody else have any bluetooth items they use with their BB?

Big deal. You must be talking about the car kit/speakerphone. But, even so, your attitude is not welcome here. Go away.

There's plenty of "point" regardless of whether you see it or not. what's the point of this post?

Exclamation Ok then... - 08-18-2005, 11:20 AM

Okay, you people are just too funny! I cannot beleive how NEGATIVE this "Community" is. If anyone has a reason to be negative it is me, my wife just gave birth to a premature baby with a genetic disorder, she is in renal failure and you say I am NEGATIVE? This post is coming from the hospital's library, have the admin check the IP if you doubt me. It sucks living in a hospital.

For what it is worth, the bluetooth device I speak of is a barcode scanner, not any of the items you listed. I use a barcode scanner in my business and being able to scan UPS tracking numbers, USPS Delivery confirmation numbers and UPC's is vital to my business. I use VeriChat to do the tracking lookups and have automated much of the implementation, but you don't really want to hear about it do you?

If you are interested, you will need to contact me at blackberry at kkaiser DOT com, as I am removing my profile from this "Community", otherwise feel free to ignore me. I will not be able to get your email until we all go home, which could be up to 6 weeks, so you will have to wait.

Minds are like parachutes, they only function when fully open.

Your truly,
Weener

And your point? To bring wealth and info to the community I'd hope? If so you have a rather odd and condescending way of doing so?

In fact, yes, my hope was to bring my knowledge of scanner technology to this site and hopefully use other's BlueTooth knowledge to learn something new. I work for a non-profit that hired me as their Technical Developer for scanner technology, because scanners are vital to their operation.

My point was to get some discussion started on things other than keyboards and headsets. Since I found no such thing, I figured we (as a community) could discuss and develop some good information and data about other bluetooth devices that work with the BB.

My statements were in response to another post here that said, "BB Bluetooth ONLY works with keyboards and headsets." So I was hoping to shatter that MYTH.

Apparently, humor and laughing are frowned upon here. I should have learned by now that humor does not translate to the internet very well, SORRY! My attempt at starting a GOOD discussion about OTHER bluetooth items was met with name-calling and requests that I go away, and I AM THE WEENER? SHEESH!

In what way was I EVER condescending? I simply stated that I found it funny (strange-funny) that nobody was talking about bar code scanners since I use mine hundreds of times per day.

I apologize IF ANYBODY misunderstood my comments as being condescending, that was NOT the intent. I would appreciate it if all of you can understand the stress I have been under. The sleep deprivation has been rough and my friends and family would AGREE that I have been a BIT ODD LATELY, sorry.

The INTENT was to stimulate conversation about other bluetooth devices that will work with the BB, not to attack or be condescending.

Again, I am sorry if I failed to acheive that goal AND I am sorry for pissing so many people off.

I am developing an application for the BB that will incorporate bluetooth scanners and I thought I could get some good feedback and suggestions here. I thought a good, brisk discussion may help somebody, but apparently I didn't do it the way that everybody expected.

As far as headsets and keyboards go, I find them redundant, sorry. That is my opinion, that does not mean that other people don't find them useful. If I were still at my last job, the headset would have been a nice device to have. In fact I own a headset and I have never even tried it, since I do not use my BB as a phone very much. I guess I will donae it to charity rather than offer it up here.

"Big Deal", "weener", "post something positive or go away", "What is the point of this post?" All valid opinions, and I was getting to posting something positive, however, all my development tools, articles and manuals are NOT here at the hospital.

I was INTENDING to get a discussion STARTED, so when I DO GET HOME, we could already have some good ideas, suggestions and requests, since I will be going into beta testing shortly after getting home.

I WILL post some good information for EVERYBODY whenever I get home, unless of course, it is unwanted.

Take care.

Dude... you like 3 months behind... read some of my posts, I have mentioned several times that the BT stack is wide open, it's just that no software/drivers have been written. I have been calling the audio thing a myth for a long time.

I don't know if you have figured things out yet, but this isn't a place for hardcore blackberry programmers, cause there aren't too many, and most of them don't hang out online gossiping away.

Either way... old news, tell me something I haven't said/heard before.

cd.

ps. All the best to your family, I have big stones and my little one in the wife's oven has a few renal issues.
