Red face BB as modem for Apple laptop - 07-12-2008, 12:01 PM

HI.
FAQ instructions state:

Bluetooth Modem under OS X
From BlackBerryFAQ

Thanks to ggoodale @ BlackBerry Forums

1. Download the script from here. Please Right-Click and Choose ‘Save As’.

2. Copy the script into /Library/Modem Scripts.

I don't have a Modem Scripts in my system.
Should I set one up? Is this referencing the right OS or version?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am pretty sure all standard versions of OS X have a Modem Scripts folder by default.

Macintosh HD:Library:Modem Scripts:

Also check under System Preferences Network>BlueTooth>Advanced. This will show the setup for a bluetooth modem.

If you do not have the Modem Scripts directory on your MacBook/MacBook Pro, you may have to do more configuring of your OS.

Default Saga continues - 07-12-2008, 01:14 PM

Hello and thank you for your help!

I did what you suggested.
However, the ending of the file that I saved is .htm
Would that impede it from being read properly?

As I am trying to set up Bluetooth seem to have encountered more hurdles.

Bluetooth setup assistant under the drop down menu "Vendor" do I check "Other"? RIM is not mentioned

The next drop-down menu is "Phone Model" and the the only two options are:
"Black Berry 8100.htm" or
"Verizon Support (PC 5220)

Then the other subheadings I presume I must ask my mobile provider for:
username, password ...

More help from you or anyone else would once again be appreciated!!

The .htm will more than likely cause some issues. You must remove the extension. Open the file information pane, and scroll down and rename the file without the extension, accept the changes when complete.

Here is the article I used previously to setup my MacBook.

Updated Modem Scripts for OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - Fibble.org

Thanks once again for turning me on to a great site!!
So far, I have managed to download the script and finally can select RIM however, the model of my phone does NOT apprear. Only 8100, 8700 and 8900 appear.
Also, what does one enter as USERNAME and PASSWORD?
Actually, what did you enter? And what does one ask for from the lobotomized robotic voices that one speaks to when calling the service provider, i.e. TMobile!?

What did you enter for username and passowrd? On the Fibble forums, there is an entry that advised to enter "guest" for both fields. Tried but failed!

I used this specific post as my guide:
http://forums.fibble.org/viewtopic.php?p=14#2

The first step is to configure the device, and in that setup, you leave the ID and PW blank, when you configure the connection for your laptop (via Network Connections) you will enter wap.voicestream.com in the Phone Number field, and guest/guest for TMobile.

Sounds like you are getting close. Good Luck!
