Lightbulb Is it possible?? - 08-23-2005, 09:41 AM

I have a model 7290. I have a bluetooth enabled laptop. I can pair these devices and they see each other fine. Is it possible to tether the blackberry to the laptop to allow the laptop to use the blackberry as a modem. Would really be nice if out on the town and get a call to check a system at work to go to car and fireup laptop and connect to system via blackberry. Thanks for your time and patience.

I know that you can direct connect the blackberry to a computer and use it that way as a modem, but I don't think you can do it via bluetooth.

The Bluetooth function on a BlackBerry is for voice transmission only, not for data (making sure users don't store sensative data on their devices). Although you'll be able to pair them up you won't be able to send packets of data accross. There is a thread somewhere else on the forum that tells you how to use the BlackBerry as a modem, but not via Bluetooth.
