Default Best Bluetooth CarKit for 8830 World Edition - 08-19-2008, 04:20 PM

Hello all,

Im looking for the best bluetooth carkit for a 2008 Pontiac G5. I would like the ability to stream music via my handset as well (A2DP obviously), voice activation is optional but nice to have.

My main problem is audio quality and that it integrates nicely with my car stereo system. Im very picky, I hate a lot of bluetooth headsets because they are so crappy and the other person can barely here me.

So this is where the community comes in? What have you tried, what have you heard? What seems to be best device?

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers

Might help to post the make/model of your car stereo system as well.

Until the car kit makers catch up with the state of the art in the handset, your best bet is to consider replacing your car radio with one that supports advanced car kit Bluetooth functions - the cost won't be very different - and some models understand how to let you listen to the radio or the handset media player and still respond to calls.

Among the car kit products, I'm most impressed (though I have not yet had one in for review) with the THB Bury products.

Parrot BT car kits might be worth looking at...they provide BT audio streaming for music, address book download, etc.

The MK6100:

Parrot MK6100 Car Kit Parrot MK6100 [ParrotMK6100] - $209.99 : Parrot Bluetooth Hands Free Car Kits and Plug N' Play Harness Adapters, Bluetooth Hands Free Car Kits

I've purchased from Safewireless and they have excellent pre- and post-purchase customer support. You'd get the MK6100 and the appropriate wiring harness for your make/model/year vehicle...makes it more of a plug-and-play installation for your installer. Circuit City will install for about $70 or so.

I just installed a Motorola T605 in my 06 Silverado. Very clean install. I needed two harnesses for the radio-t605 connection and then an aux input kit for connecting the audio from the t605. Headset audio and stereo audio is different.

I also own the 8830. I think you might be surprised on the quality of audio streamed through a2dp connection from the 8830.
