Arrow DUPLEXITY - model by model - please post - 08-30-2008, 10:28 AM

Whatever your Bluetooth device - headset, car kit, dashboard navigator, in-dash radio, etc. - please check for one specific attribute and post the results here.

The question: is it full-duplex or half-duplex?

A half-duplex device really only carries voices in one direction at a time. You may notice this effect, for example, when calling a voice-response phone system that doesn't let you interrupt its lengthy question with your answer.

A full-duplex device keeps the channel open in both directions all the time; in the voice-response example above, you can successfully interrupt any time.

It isn't about price - a lot of expensive gear is only half-duplex - a lot of low-price gear is full-duplex.

The problem: it's hard to know what you have and hard to find the spec listed, so it's hard to know what you're getting when you are looking at what you want to get next.

This explains a lot. My wife must be half-duplex...no matter what I say she just keeps talking.

My Parrot MK6000 BT car kit is full duplex.
