anyone know a good brand and pair that works great for the 8100
that uses both your ears but also works as a headset mic?

i had a BT8010 .. but when i returned it.. for some reason
i think it got lost in the mail..

IMHO the Motorola S9 is great and a bit more compact. Sound quality is great and the handsfree operation works well with the BB Media Player.

perhaps i'm just picky.. but is there a way you can only use one side considering
its illegal to drive with those in cali if they are on both sides of my ear lol?

just get a fm transmitter for music. as for calls, only sound comes thru the left side while the right side houses the mic

You could just lift one side up and off your ear couldn't you? In any case, when making phone calls audio only comes out through the left speaker anyway. Assuming you have a radio in your car you probably wouldn't be using the music function =P.

P.S. The headset works very nicely with my 8310, my only issue is whenever I have too many things open the music sometimes lags. In fact, doesn't even have to be too much; the only other closeable application that's open is Brickbreaker and it will lag. Oh well.

Yeah, I don't think the S9 is legal for driving in CA even though the sound only comes out of one ear while on a phone call.

The other issue with the S9 is it cuts out when used outside. Weird but it's a common problem with the S9.

I still don't understand the "cuts out when outside" aspect but used it quite successfully yesterday while raking the leaves and mowing the lawn. I suspended the BB (8830) from a lanyard and hung it around my back. No cut-outs. It worked fine in a waist pocket in my fleece inside but cut-out when I walked out. Suspended as noted above and it worked for 2 hours.

Similar issue: Placed BB in a small daypack so it was at the bottom of the pack. Was working fine as I was finishing up inside the house. Walked out and it was breaking up. Moved the BB to the top flap pocket (near shoulder blades) and it worked fine for a 4 mile walk!!!

I don't know enough about Bluetooth waves to figure out why the S9's work in some positions in the house but once outside lose contact. Does BT like confined spaces and bounce signals off the walls?

out constantly .. :/ mmm i'm surprised there aren't alot of bluetooth headsets
that offer two ears/one ear styles..
