Default Message transfers from BB 8810 to pc using Bluetooth? - 03-05-2009, 08:01 PM

One of my users has an AT&T 8810. He's a BES user.

The device can charge fine but it won't hold a USB connection to Desktop Manager. I'm getting ready to issue the user a new Bold, but he would like all of his emails transferred to the new device.

Is there anyway to connect to the 8810 using BT and transfer the messages that way. Once that's done, I should be able to restore those messages to the new Bold, correct?

TIA

8810? Don't think there is such a model number.

But as far as a BT transfer, not possible AFAIK. You could have the user email them to his BES account email address and then when you provision the new device, they should move over, provided they are with in the 14 day window.

I've had problems with an 8830 in my office as well. It's been a while since I've carried an 88xx but when I was having problems with my Bold hanging I was doing a lot of backup, wipe, restore cycles. With the Bold and DT 4.6 I could backup and restore messages and PINs. Might be worth a look before you move him over. And consider doing the restore before activation as the BES may lockout restoring the messages database.
