Default Bluetooth Auto On/Off - can it be done? - 03-10-2009, 01:15 PM

I've done some searching in the forums and turned up little info really besides a developer having trouble turning bluetooth on and off. What I'm trying to find is a program that will turn my bluetooth on say at 5pm and off at 7pm. I use to have something just like this on my old Treo and it was handy as it kept the bluetooth off when I didn't need it and turned it on right as I was about to get off work and get in the car. Then in case I forgot to turn it off it would shut off not long after I got home.

Does anyone know if this is possible on a blackberry?

I have spoken to a few developers who told me Bluetooth toggling is not possible in 4.3+. 4.2 used to have an enable/disable Bluetooth icon, and did not make the jump to the more recent OS versions.

Back to your app request, I would love to have something like that, or even a Bluetooth toggle that I could assign to convenience key or a QuickLaunch entry.

You might look at toysoft's (Toysoft Development, Inc. - MP3 Ringtones, Voice recorder) application, Location Profiler. It will turn wifi and bluetooth off and on based on your location.

I believe this function MAY also integrated into Profiler (time based Profile changer), which would more closely meet your time based bluetooth needs.

Thanks for the link to Toysofts' website I used them several times with my Treo. I couldn't see where the Location Profiler or Profiler could handle the WiFi and bluetooth though [even checked the manual]. This was so close to what I was looking for though!
