Default BB VM-605 Bluetooth Speakerphone: I love it and hate it! - 06-30-2009, 04:40 PM

I acquired the new Bluetooth Visor Mount speaker phone from BlackBerry.

Great device... rich functionality

But the most irritating and loud voice that you can't make shut up.

Beware of this before you buy it. I wish BB could find a way to allow us to disable the voice, or put to a very low volume, without affecting the speakers volume.

How is the actual volume of the speaker for calls? Is it loud enough? How does the volume compare to other bluetooth speakerphone units?

Loud and clear... Really sharp. if it weren't for that horrible loud voice that reads out the caller's number...

I bought one of these and I think I am going to return it / sell it.

I like it. BUT... I don't like how the FM transmitter adjusts the station it talks to. It simply goes up one channel at a time. Makes no effort to pick a station that doesn't have something on it. I drive back and forth between two radio markets and have to switch the FM transmitter portion every trip. This behavior makes it a huge issue.

I also have a Motorola MotoROKR T505 as well and have had it for a while in another vehicle. They are VERY similar in function. Even the English female voice is the same. BUT, the Motorola scans for a free frequency and gives you the option to toggle between favorites. So once you find a couple good ones, you can set the pre-sets on your radio and just go between the good channels as you drive.

Won't be an issue anyway soon. I will use the Motorola in the company car. I am buying a Ford Focus with Sync and will use that for personal use!
