I just received a Plantronics Voyager 510 from Amazon, in anticipation of someday owning a bluetooth enabled phone I can live with. That's another thread by itself right there!

Anyhow, I noticed the power button (teeny black button above the volume) and the "connect/redial" button (on the side) are SUPER DUPER STIFF!

So stiff, I can't even tell if I'm turning the unit on or off, for instance. I have to use a fingernail and jam the #*$@ out of it until I see the blinky light come on/off.

Did I get a bad unit? Or are all the 510's like that?

The volume up/down buttons, however, actually have a little travel and a teeny, acceptable ammount of "click" to them.

My power/mute button is super stiff as well and from reading many reviews of the unit that is pretty much how they all are. As for the side button that answers/ends calls, that one is not that stiff for me. It is easy to push.

I just picked one up and my off/pn button is still as well. Despite this issue, I really like the headset. Probably the best one I've ever had.

Well, at least the side button DOES have that "boop!" sound when you press it to let you know it's been pushed. That's OK... but boy, that on/off switch is pretty awful!

But I suppose it's not like I'll be turning this thing on and off all day!

Update: Went to a local Radio Shack and Nit Picked two different 510's. On each, the side button was just fine (had some click to it). WAY better than the one I got from Amazon.

One of the two had a mushy on/off button, so I went home with the other one.

The Amazon one is going back. Hurrah!

Yeah, I tried that (pressing to the side) on the Amazon unit last night. It was the only way I could reliably turn the thing on/off.

On my 2nd one (now charging up), the power button actually has a teeny bit of "click" to it. I'm a happy camper.
