I recently discovered a neat solution for something that I have long been irritated with; poor cell phone reception inside my home. I always thought that the geek squads of the world should come up with a solution that ties our cell phone to our landline phones. My initial intent was to eliminate landlines all together, but with VOIP that wind has left the sail for me and focus is now on cell phone reception in the home just for the sake of good cell phone service.
In walking around a local electronic retailer, I saw for the umpteenth time a phone and finally gave it some investigtion. The phone is a 5.8 GHz phone with Bluetooth built into the base unit. It works with both land line and any Bluetooth cell phone. So when I come hone from work, I plop my cell phone on a charger that sits by a window and therefore allows good cellular reception in my house. Once in the house, my 7130E automatically links to the Uniden Bluetooth phone. If I then go to the basement and I receive a call on my cell, the Uniden phone will ring (it even has unique ring tones for mobile calls and landline calls); voila - no more missed cellular calls while at home. I can easily see people using this as a replacement to their traditional landline phones - at minimum as a compliment to their existing landline system.
The Uniden allows for 2 cell phones to be connected and will differentiate between the two. The system allows for both incoming and outgoing calls through the cell phone.
I purchased this phone with the intention to try it out, but with the attitude that I would take it back because it would not deliver as suggested. After a few days, so far so good.
Does anybody have and experience with this system; good or bad? Does anyone know if a newer model is on the horizon from Uniden or any other manufacturer?
All feedback appreciated.
