Default Connection to a ThinkPad T40p - 02-22-2006, 07:57 PM

I am connecting my BB 7250 and my Plantronics Explorer 320 to my T40p. I have them connected but they dont do anything. I read thru some things and they say to pick a service, but when I go to the Services tab in the Bluetooth settings I see nothing. Is there something I can download and install on my BB or PC that can make this work. I not at the point yet where I have installed the desktop manager on the T40p, but Im hoping to tomorow, does the BB software have those services.

FWIW, I'm on a ThinkPad T42p.

1 - If you are on a BES, then you'll have to have the policies enabled for you and pushed down to the handheld (if you're the BES administrator, that's a plus). The default BES policy (4.0.3, I believe - or maybe a hotfix on 4.0.2) has this functionality disabled. I just created a new one, for testing, called BT_XFR-On and had a few of the policies enabled (and nothing else changed from the default policy).

2 - You won't be able to use your headset to interface with your laptop, unfortunately ('tis a good idea though). You will only be able to do data transfers (and one or two other things that I'm forgetting), such as backups or synchronizations.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

You can set the passkey to anything. Once you enter it the other device should prompt you for the passkey. Just enter whatever you entered in the first device and you should be set. Did you make sure to uninstall the IBM drivers for BT? You must use the native MS drivers for a sync to work.

I first conect the device to the PC via the bluetooth icon in the control panel. afte it finds it and connects, I then go into the black berry connectipon settings and there it ives me the option to choose a port, or USB or bluetooth. I choose bluetooth and it says it can not find the device.

If I do not connect the BB 1st thru the control panel, but just use the BB connection setings, it Finds the device, it then asks for a passkey, Here it does not give you the option to set a passkey.

any thoughts, is there a default passkey for this, I had read that with the 4.1 BB OS that it will allow sync via bluetooth.

Also, Im on verizon, and I have a 7250
Thanks,
tekjock

Have you tried just entering any passkey? Usually there is only a default passkey when you cannot enter a passkey for the other device. In the case of a headset.

Nothing happens when you enter any passcode? I'm guessing if it's wrong it should say connection refused or something to that effect.
