Default Any bluetooth headsets that can be charged with the same bb usb charger? - 02-24-2006, 07:04 PM

I currently have a Motorola HS820 bluetooth headset. It was great when I had a Motorola e815 (since they used the same charger). I have since moved to a 7130e, and was wondering if anyone has first hand experience with a good bluetooth headset that can be charged with the blackberry usb charger. I carry enough crap, that I don;t want to carry another charger. :-D

The Motorola H500 & H700 use the same charger as the 7130e, I have tried both and they work very well with the 7130e, but i do prefer the H700.

I'm using the H700 and it works great. If you look on ebay for "dual charger" you'll find a couple of Motorola chargers that allow you charge 2 devices at the same time, think of it as a "Y" where your primary charger is plugged in and the dual charger splits it. There are 2 configurations - one w/ 2 mini-usb plugs (to charge a BB8700 and H700 at the same time) and the other is mini-usb and old Motorola charger (to charge a BB8700 and HS820).

Thanks!! I never thought there would be a Y adapter with a mini-usb and a motorla connector.. I guess it's geared more towards the razor/older moto bluetooth headset user.

I'm using a Plantronics Discovery 640 and it comes with a modular charger. They include a bunch of connectors for Moto, Nokia, etc. but you have to order the mini-usb adapter seperately.

But its a fantastic BT Headset (although pricey). Comes with an adapter to charge from a AAA battery.

There's a Plantronics Headset with wind guard that uses the same USB charger as the 7100t

It tastes like plastic to me

Which one are you referring to? If you're talking about the 510, then you've been misinformed. All of the Plantronics that I have seen use their own proprietary charger. You have to get an adaptor for the 640. I'm not sure if you can use the same adaptor for the 510.

Best bet for a bluetooth headset using the same mini-usb charger are the motorolas.

The brand new version of the 640 - the 645 comes out the end of June. BlueShop.com will have it for $99.95 so you may wish to wait a bit. It's virtually impossible to beat that price. The new model has DSP - which is supposed to mean vastly improved sound. I hear tell that the 640 is already the best headset out there (CNET.com Editor's Choice award), so improving on it's sound should mean an even better product.

I'm ordering my 7130e next Friday and the 645 headset the end of June.

But it is my understanding that while the 645 has DSP,it lacks multipoint.I'm still up in the air about whether to go for the 640 or 645.

Being a neophite, I'll bite and ask the dumb question - what is multipoint?

Anyway - since posting, I am rethinking the BT headset option more. Folks on howardsforum.com are complaining about sound quality and battery life on the 645. Relooking at a couple of Jabra models as well now.

This could probably help in this situation for a mini USB headset with the BlackBerry.

This is what you will need to use with the 640

The headset comes with a "Motorola P2K" port for the charging tube which this adapter has on one side. The other side has the mini USB to charge the phone (BlackBerry). I use this exact setup for my 640.

This adapter will help your need as well with the 820.

Get an H700, you won't regret it.

Uhh, nope, wrong again! I bought mine for $81.95, from a cellular store selling on eBay.

By the way, unlike the 640, the 645 ships standard with the mini USB charging adapter, so you don't need to buy it separately like you do with the 640.

I have also heard that the 7100t/7105t charger works with the H500 which is why I want one but I don't know if it will work with the newer 7130 model once it comes out.

My Plantronics 640 came with the Mini USB adapter in the package. Just picked it up recently, maybe something plantronics now includes since it comes standard with the 645? Not sure, but glad I got it.

I currently use the HS850. I dread the H700. The sound quality is horrible compared to the HS850. Seems to be a batch of bad ones because they are always returned at my store with problems of it dropping the bluetooth conection, bad mic, and just people unhappy with the sound quality.

Its a shame, I love my HS850 but want it to use the mini-usb type of charging port. And I just gotta have a headset that flips open and close.

I might be switching to the Motorola H3 (sadly doesn't flip). Uses the Mini-usb type of port and the battery life is supposively longer than the HS850. I've been hearing good things about it. Hopefully the sound quality is just as good or better!
