Default Blackberry 7290 and Bluetooth - 01-31-2005, 05:49 PM

Hi,

New to the board, and have a question.....

I just got a Cingular 7290 to replace my T-Mobile 7230. Now I am still a T-Mobile user, and yes it came unlocked from Cingular. (BTW... The Cingular rep. told me the new ones that are coming in MAY BE LOCKED!)

I installed SIM, go service book, updated the software, etc... All works great. I am using it with a Motorola HS-850 bluetooth headset. It all works great!

Now for the issue; the other day people complained that the headset kept cutting out, so I switched to my Motorola HS-820 and still had the same issue. I finally just removed the Battery and re-booted the 7290. Now first, it took 3-5 Min. to come back up! My 7230 was slow booting, but not this slow.. Once it came up, I switched back to the HS-850, and all was well, and all has been fine. Do I have to worry about having to re-boot this on a regualr basis? I have a friend who has a 7520 from Nextel, and he tells me he has to re-boot every couple of days?

Any Thoughts?

Thanks!

I had this issue, and it appears to be related to a combination of two things:

The 32k SIM card and the v3.8 OS.

When I had this issue, I had the Cingular store replace my unit. I still have the same SIM chip, and the v3.8 OS and not have it come back.

However, I have noticed that the Bluetooth quality is starting to suck. I hear clicks during the conversation (this happens in the Bluetooth connection is encrypted or not). I haven't figured out what is exactly causing this.

Take a look at this post: http://www.blackberryforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=24549

I upgraded my 7290 (on T-Mobile) to the v4.0 HK OS & haven't had the voice drop-outs since. I find the bluetooth volume a lot lower though.

That is what everyone has said thus far. v4 of the OS (from the HK site) lowers the volume period. Cingular US has stated they are planning on releasing the v4 OS soon (before end of Feb). I'll be holding my breath until then.

I was speaking to one of my buddies last night and he was telling me about the same issue with his unit. He updated his OS to V4.0 HK and he does not have any more issues. But as you stated his volume for his bluetooth is lower now. He even tested out 2 bluetooth headsets and went out and bought a 3rd totally different model and had the same issue.

Hopefully a new us from the proper carrier will fix this issue for you guys.
