I have the Plantronics 640 with the casae and was wondering what everyone does when not carrying the case. Can I just put the ear piece with the rubber thing in my pocket or will this damage it or am I stuck carrying the case around town? Any suggestions?

Might do ok in a shirt pocket. Otherwise, just to be sure I would use the case. Those things arent cheap and it is better safe then sorry

Very true and good idea but it will get annoying taking off the ear bud everytime I want to put the headset away in its case.

I do not carry around the case (the big rectangular case that holds all of the charger accessories, I assume that's what your talking about). I slip the earpiece back into the charging sleeve and put it in my pocket. I have never had a problem with the silicone earpiece falling off.

I did however have a problem with the earpiece coming out of the charger sleeve. So I took barjohn's advice and put a thin piece of self-adhesive foam inside the charging sleeve on one side. This made the earpiece fit snugly in the charging sleeve and I have never had it fall out.

I do the exact same thing, i have never had any problems with this method. I don't like it charging all the time so i took out the AAA battery. It"s no different than a large pen in a pocket.

I don't attach the AAA battery housing. I keep the USB charging port attached so that I can charge it with my blackberry charger at home. So instead of a large pen it's more like a tube of lip balm.
