My wife is hearing-impaired, and works in a library where sound alerts are not allowed. The BB vibrate alert is great - but ONLY if she is wearing the BB on her person. We were wondering if there is any kind of vibrating alert we can connect to the BB via bluetooth, and she could wear the alert around her neck or on her wrist while leaving the BB in her pocketbook nearby. Does this critter already exist?
Nothing like that exists as of now, but what I do remember seeing posted by Mark Rehjon on this forum is putting the BlackBerry in a sock and wearing it so that the vibrating alert can be felt. Even though I am not hearing impaired, I have also found that the LED light (especially the red indicating and incoming message) gets my attention faster if I forget to change my sound profile from Quiet back to Vibrate in the morning. But if she keeps it in her purse, this will not work. I wish there was something that could be done to help.
Due to the security restrictions I do not know if a developer could do that, there are several threads in here asking for suggestions on new software. The other thing you could do is to approach RIM diretly about it I am sure that if anyone an make this happen easily enough it would be them or one of their partners.
I'm shocked....the Jabra BT250V DOES Exist and VIBRATES. I use the Jabra Bt250 but have not used the vibrating version. This is a bluetooth earpiece and works great IMHO. The 250V is a verison that vibrates.
The storage tube for the Plantronics 640 & 645 will vibrate when a call comes in. When I have the devise in my pocket it will vibrate. The storage tube also has a pocket clip.
