Default Verizon and Bluetooth Sync to Desktop Manager - 09-12-2006, 09:00 AM

Verizon rep told me that this functionality has been disabled. I have a 7130E. He told me there was no way to enable this functionality. Is this true? Anybody out there using bluetooth synchronization with Verizon phones? If so, how did you manage it?

I just can't see these settings
Desktop Connectivity
Wireless Bypass
appear in my services of my device.

Any ideas? Is it legal for Verizon to cripple functionality from RIM phones for no good reason?

I am using it just fine. Make sure your using the latest and greatest softwares of course..but sometimes you have to go into the Blackberry Device Manager, and enable bluetooth.

I just got an 8703e with Verizon and was wondering how to sync it with Desktop Manager over Bluetooth. I searched and couldn't really find anything. Could someone help walk me through it? I tried to pair the BB with my laptop and the only services it saw were ActiveSync and Voice Services, so I'm not sure what to do and how to do it.

Thanks

Yeah I have a dell 355 internal bluetooth card in my laptop. I have to switch to the windows stack for it to work?

yep, pretty much. the desktop manager software doesnt like 3rd party software (the kind that your laptop comes with). if you can, uninstall everything bluetooth related in your laptop. then, go to device manager and install the bluetooth adapter manually with the windows bluetooth driver. its a universal one that should work with any bluetooth adapter, and its the only driver that seems to work with desktop manager.

however, my belkin usb adapter didnt like that windows driver. i had to modify the driver file as according to this thread- http://www.blackberryforums.com/blue...-adapters.html

once i did that, it installed fine and everything worked great. when i enter my room, the phone syncs with the pc without any connection or intervention. also, i can browse the net on my pc with my phone in my pocket. its really really cool
