Default What is SPP Service? - 09-13-2006, 11:23 PM

I'm trying to set up a program on my computer called Phone Control, the website can be visited at phonecontrol.net. It will allow me to access my Blackberry 7250 via bluetooth through the computer I have installed in my car. I'm using a bluetooth dongle and when I try to run the software, it says the device I selected, my Blackberry, doesn't support any services. It says I need to open the Bluetooth Device Manager and add at least the SPP service. I went right through the Bluetooth manager and couldn't find anything pertaining to any services, what is it referring to? I'm with Telus here in Canada and I don't know if this is a feature of their software, but it should be. Can anyone help me out?

Also, I just checked the Services list in my Blackbery and it has the following:
Headset
Handsfree
Desktop Connectivity
Wireless Bypass

How do I get SPP added to this list?

I believe SPP is already enabled on all BlackBerry Bluetooth devices. The problem may be that you need to enable other devices to discover your phone. Try this:

1. Goto your device Bluetooth Manager
2. Click Track wheel and select OPTIONS
3. Set [Discoverable] = YES

now try to use your PC Bluetooth Manager to detect and pair your Blackberry with PC.

hope this helps.......

I checked the compatibility list for Phone Control and it doesn't appear it supports Blackberrys just yet. Thanks though.
