Default 7290 and Bluetooth Car Kits - 04-03-2005, 12:56 PM

Does anyone have any recommendations on successful installations of bluetooth car kits and the Blackberry 7290? Which car kits work and how well do they work?

Quick question: I purchased the Parrot CK3000, and have gotten it to pair fine with my motorola phone, but it won't pair with the BB 7290. Has anyone else used it?

I'm using the CK3000 with my 7100g. Works fine.

I am using a 7290 with a CK3000 without problems. Make sure you use the latest software in the Parrot.

We have sold numerous Parrot systems to BB users and all report good results... that is why I suggested them. I personally tested on my 7100t and it worked well.

There are currently connnection problems with the Motorola Car Kit (98500 / S9642). Still hoping that future software updates will resolve. Search for other posts on that model.

I am using version 3.16, I believe that is still the latest version. So buy a kit with this version or get the upgrade cable (which I recommend anyway for future updates)

I spoke to the guys at Parrot and they told me that the software upgrade won't make a difference. So I guess I have another problem. :(

What CK3000 do you have? The original or the Evolution? And what version of the software are you running on the Parrot?

Default Bluetoth Carkit Issues - 04-18-2005, 12:02 PM

im a rogers dealer in canada, and i have the 7290, it DOES NOT work yet with the motorola car kit. i was in contact with rim directly, and as far as they knew, the 4.0 was to do the trick, and it hasnt yet. does anyone know what works car kit wise with the 7290/7100?

I had the same problem with the Motorola car kit.

I went to the Parrot and it seems to work fine. HOWEVER: You cannot upload your phone's address book to the carkit. Nor, can you manually punch in a number and add a voice dial tag like on the Motorola.

Here are the choices:
1) Get the Motorola, mess with it 2 minutes each time you start the car and be able to do voice dialing.
2) Get the Parrot and be able to manually dial calls, but not voicedial.
3) Wait for the next software update and hope that it fixes the Motorola.

Have Fun!!

I haven't tried version 3.15, but older versions did not work with the 7290.

If parrot says the version is OK, I don't know what could be causing this problem. Do other bluetooth phones work with this CK3000 carkit?

Edit: I just see you've tried it with a motorola phone. Sorry, I don't have any other ideas.

Again, my motorola Razor works with the kit, but the blackberry won't I guess I need to try to work with the manufacturer at this point.

best to contact parrot for help... but I must say BT issues on BlackBerry's are becoming handset specific not even model specific... it's getting weird.

I have the Motorola car kit and it works with my 7290 but only if I initiate the pairing from the Blackberry manually. If it pairs automatically, or is initiated from the moto console, the 7290 will indicate that it is connected but it will not work.

I finally got on the phone with Parrot and we figured it out....I had to reset the CK3000 and then repair and BLAM, it worked. Now, the only thing that I am finding is when I switch phones to use it with the unit, I have to turn off the car in order for things to totally release, then pair with the other phone.

The parrots stay active for a period of time when switching... normal in my experience. If you find it annoying you could tie the power into a switch somewhare and interupt that way.

Yes the Easy Drive works with the BlackBerry.

Also I have just tested the new Motorola IHF1000 Car Kit and it works great with the Tmo 7290 tester. Great voice recognition on the "dial number" function. Specs are here http://store.bizshopr.com/motihf1000.html

I will be testing with the 7100t tomorrow.

Is there any work around to get SMS & mails to give an audible alert through my Parrot Evolution kit.
