Please note: More headsets work with BlackBerryOS 4.0.0.204 than 4.0.0.160

(The Nextel OS 4.0.0.160 is more limited, as of April 2005)

I am using the following bluetooth devices with my 7290:

- Parrot CK3000 carkit, works fine (voice only, no phonebook and voicedail support)
- Motorola HS850 headset works perfect

I can recommend both.

Motorola HS810 works great with my Nextel 7520 ... unless the volume is set at any level higher than 50%, in which case the caller experiences a very annoying echo.

I've had good luck with both the Jabra BT250 and the Motorola HS810 on a T-mobile 7100t (OS 3.8 and 4.0)

I've got a Nokia HS-4W and tested with OS 3.8 and 4. In OS4 the volume is lower than in OS3.8.

You might want to also update the title to include cars as well as headsets.

Is anyone aware of a good Bluetooth headset that is not "over the ear" but goes over the head. I have been flamed in other forums for asking this question, but I wear glasses and find it very uncomfortable without a head band. Currently I have a Plantronics wired headset and everytime I see one in a store and ask the reps indicate they sell real well so I can not be the only one.

The Flamingo is not a headband unit but it sits in the ear in a very comfortable way and does not interfere with glasses. I too need glasses to read so it is on and off with the glasses and units with over the ear design are a real pain.

I just got a HS820. No probs so far. There was a lil echo, turned encryption off, and it sounds fine. It's a lil low, but I haven't done the upgrade yet. I don't knwo what that will do. Part of me still wants to check out the 850....

Well I got my scala 500 in the mail on wed charged it up put it into use today! So far I love this thing man. Works Flawless. Best part is it works with Nextel DC. Sound is the greatest very light weight, fits comfortably on my Fat head. Have worn on the job site all day and forgot its there. So far no issue for me at all was easy to pair up.

Does the scala 500 have a button for DC, or does anyone know of one that does. I am using the HS850, but as with all other headsets, you have to keep one hand on the BB to have a DC conversation. A DC button on the headset would be great.

No I have never seen one with a DC button one way or another you have to press a button. Just the way DC works

Default Cardo Scalla 500 and BT800 - 05-10-2005, 07:59 PM

I liked both of these devices with the 7250. Both work well for me. Scalla 500 has a little better sound but the BT800 caller ID is great as I use it all the time to decide whether or not to put the headset on and take the call or send it to voicemail. I love the BT800 just wish it was louder. As far as people I've talked to they seem to think either one is ok. I'm waiting to try the bluespoon 5g, I have it on preorder and want to know how well it works and fit's. The reason I can't purchase the Flamingo is the right ear only option. I use my headsets in my left ear so this is why I can't bring myself to try the Flamingo. I'd love to try that one out maybe they'll make one for both ears or a left ear version sometime in the future.

Jabra has a compatability guide that might be useful. I've seen people indicating problems trying to use the 800 with the 7100 or 7250. Neither is apparently compatible with the Jabra BT800.

I just purchased the HS850 to go along with my 7520, I will post an update in a few days. So far it seems to be doing well. I would still like to get a scala 500 to try, I hear it works well with the 7520.
