Exclamation 8100 connect dell laptop w/bluetooth vista - 04-10-2007, 11:36 PM

I am having problems connecting my laptop with my blackberry pearl. I got it to pair but can not get it to use the phone as a modem via bluetooth.like it does with the USB. I have read the post and see it can be done with a mac so it should be able to be done with my dell. Furthermore Vista is asking for drivers and i can't find them anywhere, tried the disk not there and i have the latest desk top manager please help.

Make sure you're using Desktop Manager 4.2 SP1. It's the only version that's truly Vista ready and compliant with systems patched for DST 2007.

Uninstall any older versions of Desktop Manager you have installed before installing this one.

The file you download is a self extracting EXE. If you can, download the file and extract it to a directory. I use C:\WINDOWS\Options\BBDesktop42SP1, and run BlackBerrySetup.exe to install. Make sure you right click on BlackBerrySetup.exe and select Run as Administrator when you run it.

I've had no problem setting up both an 8700 and an 8800 as a tethered modem using a USB cable under Vista. I have no experience using Blue Tooth as a data connection, but if you have it working with Desktop Manager, it should work as a modem.

I've had a nightmare with my Dell i8600 with TM350 and my previous TM300 (upgraded hoping the newer Dell drivers would help). Using either Vista or Dell's drivers give me a dropped connection as soon as the phone begins to sync and I'm under the impression it's because of the Toshiba stack used on the TM300/350 cards. I had it working perfectly for about 2 days and then it just suddenly stopped.... Now I'm back to USB... :(

For references:
Windows Vista Ultimate
Desktop Manager 4.2 SP1
TM350 A00 Dell Drivers & Vista WHQL Driver

The two BlueTooth services, the Bypass and Desktop Manager ones, prompt me for a driver for each of them and nothing works to get them going.

I have the same issue. I've been on the phone with Dell for two nights and they're not able to help. It seems like there's a problem with the 355 and Vista.
