Default Yes, you can!! BB8700c and TOM TOM ONE - 05-29-2007, 12:11 PM

Alright, just to get a quick answer out there:
You NEED:
8700c BB
Tom Tom One
Cingular Wireless

Make sure bluetooth is enabled on both devices.
On the BB:
Go to
Options-->Advanced Options-->TCP

The settings:
APN: wap.cingular
Username for APN:
Password: CINGULAR1

Now,
Tom Tom One
Go to
Change Preferences-->Arrow over to Setup Phone (paraphrasing)
Tell it to find your device
It won't be listed, so if it gives the option to pick "other" do that.
It's going to say, it's not capable, then give you an option to set up manually.

NOW, this is the trick!
All you need to do is match everything with the blackberry settings, etc.

When a "Login Script" window comes up replace this after the "1"
wap.cingular

It's going to at some point ask if you want to set up the DNS and something else automatically...DO IT.

The "dial number" is *99***1#

It should go...then just click on the TomTom PLUS services and put in your password etc for that. GOOD LUCK

P.S. This will work for any service I'm sure just google to find the APN, and Dialing number.

Hi,

Has anyone got this to work in the UK? Im on vodafone UK (Pearl, v4.2.1.94) but it only seems like US customers can get TomTom Plus on their Blackberry.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Neil

What does "When a "Login Script" window comes up replace this after the "1"
wap.cingular" mean?

Can you type what you put in? Right now I have this:
+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.cingular"

Where are you talking about putting the "1" and does it need to have quotes around it?

Also, I have using a TomTom 510 not a TomTom One so it might not be the same.

Ditto! I'm looking to get this working with a Verizon/Pearl and a TomTom Go 720.

I found these settings for the TomTom on another site:

Username: mobile#@vzw3g.com (your 10-digit number)
Password: vzw
DHCP-auto and DNS-auto
Number to dial #777
Logon Script left blank.

But its still not working. Any tips?

FINALLY!!!!!
It's working once I updated my Blackberry 8830 firmware to the latest revision that was released 11/19.

I left the APN (Access Point Name), username, and password blank.
I used #777 for the number; and it works flawlessly.

You WILL have to have a tethering (Broadband Access) plan for this to work.
It's a compete waste of money, and i will be paying my cancellation fees to get of of this Verizon contract.
