Default Texting not allowed on an 888 number - 08-24-2009, 06:53 PM

New to forum.

I have been with SouthernLink for years. They finally got a good Blackberry the Curve 8350i.

Problem: My phone is used as a business phone, so I have an 888 #.
The new curve would not allow me to receive texting. I could send.

Is this a Blackberry issue or is it SouthernLinc, and finally is it really the true fact what Southerlinc is telling me.

Clarifying. I forgot I had registered here back in 2007. Sorry.

The 888 number is actually programmed to your phone? Interesting. I never heard of this.
Are you sure you don't just have an 888# which auto-forwards to your actual mobile number?

When you call out from your BlackBerry... what number shows on the called party's caller ID?

It shows up as "unknown number" It maybe a Southerlinc thing. Any ideas on why I cannot receive a text but be able to send one?

I doubt the 888 number is actually your mobile phone number, which is why you can't receive texts sent to it.

Your carrier is likely forwarding the 888 number to your real mobile number.
What number shows up on your device when you press the green send button?

Beats me, honestly. This is the first I've heard of a toll-free number being directly assigned to a mobile device.
