Question Blackberry Storm on Three UK - 09-08-2009, 08:43 AM

HI there,

I've recently bought an unlocked BB Storm, however I have a contract with Three. I've been told I need to ring them and get the blackberry email and internet add on put onto my contract in order to use the browser and email services.

I've rang three and they've told me they can do this but because the phone isn't bought from them they cannot guarantee that it will actually work.

Has anyone had any experience of this sort of thing? Should I activate the blackberry add on and chance it? Or should I just sell the Storm and get a different phone :(?

You can activate and see if it works, and if it doesnt, unactivate the add on.

The only thing is because I got a special deal on my contract, if i enable the add on and end up having to remove it - i'll end up paying extra each month for my original deal.

That should not be the case.
You can add and remove features as often as you want.
Usually you have to have it for at least one month due to billing cycles.

yes you should.
you wont have any STORM specific service books, as 3 dont carry it, which is why they say it may not work.

let us know!

What storm specific service books are there that I wouldn't receive? I'd assume that the browser/email service one's would be send as the Bold is carried by three

To me, I dont see any reason why Bold service books won't work on a Storm.
However, there may be a difference, as thats why the network says it may not work.

I was told an 8220 flip wouldnt work for email on t-mobile uk (they dont sell it) despite the fact I assumed that as they offer the BB service, it should be fine.

I cant see why it wouldn't work, but the key is don't be surprised if it doesnt.

In case anyone else looks at this thread i thought i'd update with my experience. I am currently using a Storm on 3UK and it works just fine apart from MMS - not sure why but i'm looking into it.
Push email and browser etc work as they should.

I don't know how O2 does MMS, but you might need to enter the correct settings for TCP/IP for the carrier. Options > Advanced Options > TCP/IP. There's a list of TCP and APN settings by carrier in the BBFAQ: http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.p...PN_settings%3F

PowerMac DP G4, Mac OSX 10.5.8
