Default 3G Joke. - 09-10-2009, 01:34 PM

Hi Guys,

Im on Orange UK.
I have a Bold, which is meant to work on 3G.

For the last few months i have been arguing with Orange who told me when i bought it that the 3G would work on my Bold, however i rarely ever get it.

I have had a look at their website and it says i should get 3G coverage at home, work and at a few other addresses i added.

They have told me to switch over to 2G, But it annoys me because i thought that it was a main feature of the phone.

When i was in Italy in July, it never came of 3G, i come back here and its GPRS, not even EDGE.

What do you guys know.

Marley.

Yep, from Orange UK.
By battery gets drained all the time if it is on 3G & 2G, because it is always trying to find a 3G connection.

Im supposed to get good 3G coverage where I live on T-mobile UK.
I get it at certain places in the house.
I can get, keep, lose and get again 3G on my Bold.
When it does remain on 3G, (setting is 3G and 2G) it drains my battery twice as fast as when on 2G (as ive just switched it to).

Its sporadic, unpredictable and power consuming.
If you dont desperately need 3G, put it in 2G.
Ive found my 3G connection no faster than GPRS, as 3G will always drop to GPRS when on a call or more often than not in the browser.

I suppose your right, sometimes it makes me wonder whats the point in telling people its 3G but cant use it...
For the sake of my battery its on 2G.

I think the online tests are inaccurate. I've heard of loads of people checking network coverage online and taking out a contract only for them not to get good coverage. I think the coverage checkers instore are the best.

Here in the States 3G is a joke especially on AT&T! Their commercials are annoying as well cause they advertise America's fastest 3G network but what good is having the fastest 3G network if you can rarely access it. I have Verizon and I have 3G everywhere I go.

Well I have ATT and have 3G just about everywhere I go too, other than at my house but that is no big deal since I also have WiFi.

But I carry Verizon data with me (MiFi) since their data is more reliable especially in the far a way areas of ME, NY and VT.

Here in northern NJ, AT&T's 3G is so saturated that most days it was only marginally faster than EDGE! Personally, I blamed it all on those upitty iPhone users.
