Default Is canceling service "bad"? - 09-20-2009, 01:07 PM

My apologies for the vague topic. I recently canceled my AT&T service. I won't go into what I found were the pro/cons of AT&T... Anyway, I paid the ETF so AT&T and I are squared away... What I'm wondering is, if I later decide to go back to them, will there be any kind of "bad blood" between us as far as what they will offer me since I canceled? And, could this hurt my credit score in away?

Thanks...

I doubt you will have an issue. I have been with alltel, verizon, and sprint and payed the etf fees when I left. I'm now back with sprint and there's no bad blood. It made it easier when I came back because they still had all of my info in their system.

The bottom line is that the carriers want the money due them. If you have paid that, then as much as they would like the recurring income from you, they won't be concerned about your leaving. Someone else will fill in the gap you left behind.

So, if you are paid in full, then there is no credit worry. Additionally, if you decide to go back to them, they will be happy to have you back as they will once again receive recurring income from you.

It's all about money, not friendship.

Wirelessly posted (Tmo's cheapest BB customer)

Remember, you aren't the only person to cancel their service. These carriers have entire depts devoted towards dealing with customers who want to leave.

As the others have said, you're good/safe as long as you've paid any bills you might have.
