Default why my vendor id shows -1 ? - 09-27-2009, 09:21 PM

hi all,
i use a curve 8320 curve, i bought this in used condition and everything works fine. but im questioning on vendor id shows -1 (not listed on common operators/vendors)..

what is this mean? could this be a serious problem in the future?

I believe a -1 would be a phone that has been debranded.
I believe the debranding allows you to change the vendor code.

What about those pre-production prototypes folks pay outrageous money for, and then risk getting them turned off by RIM? They might have funky vendor id's.
