| For tethering with the 8330 you need to have: - A BlackBerry data plan on your device
- Desktop Manager installed (for the BB drivers) either with or without the media manager.
- Sprint SmartView installed. Go to Sprint - Software Downloads - Select your device type, click on the Smartphones picture, find the 8330, and download it for your device. Not sure if what they have listed is 2.25.0046 or 0047, but either one will work.
To actually tether just start up Sprint SmartView and wait for it to show no device connected. Connect the device via USB. It may take a minute or 2, but you should then get a yellow 'Connect' icon in the SmartView window. Click on it to connect.
You don't need to start Desktop Manager or create the #777 DUN connection.
I tether both my 8330 and my 9630, and help end users at work use these same exact directions.
If this doesn't work for you, please post back exactly where it fails, and any error messages you receive.

| What type of USB port are you connecting to on the computer? Front, back, or a hub?
USB hubs don't work well with BlackBerry, you need to connect to a direct port, preferably on the back of the PC.

| Round #27....
marquita, when you connect your device to your laptop, and start up Desktop Manager, does it show your PIN number in the bottom of the DM screen? I know you said it showed connected, but I wanted to confirm.

| Ok, ok, ok. I was wrong, the connect icon is grey until you connect, THEN it turns yellow. I've attached pictures of the screens of the SmartView screen from the time I start it up, to the time I am connected.
One way to ensure SmartView is 'seeing' your device is make sure your device has a password set on it. When SmartView sees the device, it will prompt you to enter the device password (as in in the pictures).

| I also didn't think to ask what operating system you're running on your laptop - XP or Vista. If Vista, did you install all of the software as the Admin?
