Default Sprint tether not working anymore - 10-14-2009, 09:58 PM

I haven't used my PAM for a few months and so when I tried it recently got an error 678. Did some searching on here and noted the threads about sprint turning off service. I am on a voice plan with the BB package. Called sprint and they confirmed that the PAM use is included in my plan and that it should be working.

I have not changed any settings to the DUN, but I did download the latest Desktop Manager, deleted the old, and installed the new 5.0 version. Still no luck.

The sprint tech support wanted me to install the smartview, but I don't see why I need that if I have been able to connect previously without it. Is it really necessary? What else could it be???

OK, called Sprint and based on one other thread, asked them to recycle my BB package. The young lady did that and found that somehow my PAM add-on had gotten removed. She put it back in and works like a charm without Smartview.

Hope this helps somebody else when they have tethered modem issues with Sprint.

they definitely shut off PAM usage for those without PAM in their plan....before..anyone used to be able to sign on...it was just a matter of sprint catching on
