Default ATT Data Plan Questions..Please help - 10-18-2009, 05:02 PM

Hi.im an att customer..i had a $10 data plan with my samsung phone i recenetly purchased howver im not happy with the device and want to go back to my BB. I put the SIM card into my old unlocked Tmobile BB. The SMS and basic features work fine as usual. I dont want to get the $30 ATT BB data package because im a college student so its a little pricey for me. I dont need BBM, and push Email but i do need general access to the internet. I upload via BB Desktop Manager, Opera Mini onto my BB. Iv been using the Opera Mini only to check my college email, gmail and going onto a few general websites. My question is, will I have additional data charges or will i be ok since im not using the BB internet devices but using a third party device. Thank you in advance.

ATT does an IMEI sweep once a month and when they see you have a BB, you will be changed to the $30 BB data plan whether you want it or not. So you might as well take the leap.

You probably will not get charged for additional data as long as you limit your use and keep an eye on your data charges on the att website. But I learned a long time ago to never say never.

My advice is that if you can't afford it, stick to whatever you are currently using. If you get hit with a huge data bill, what are you going to do?

for existing customers also. if you had a bb prior to that date without a data plan you are fine. as soon as you make changes, (in your case back to the blackberry) after that date, you are succeptible to that change.
