I got a blackberry bold 9000 tonight, I don't have a data plan, so I logged into my at&t account and tried to upgrade to the blackberry data plan for $50 a month.

I get this error message when trying to submit.

any ideas?

Is there somewhere in the account page, that has "this is your phone" and you select your phone?

If all else fails, just call at&t and have them add it.

Additionally, it sounds like you're adding the wrong package. The BlackBerry Personal plan should be about $30 a month, not $50. $50 is for the enterprise BlackBerry plan.

The best bet is to call the carrier and ask for a BB data plan to be added to your account. they have to activate it and send service books.

Much easier and quicker.

guessing the OP is trying to add the data/unlimited messaging bundle. that one is $50

That's what I'd expect, too. How'd you get the phone?
