I'm traveling to Spain with my unlocked AT&T 9700 Bold. I would really like to get data over the phone, and don't care to receive voice from back home, though it would be nice to make local calls while in Spain.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is anyway to prevent phone calls from coming through if I keep the AT&T SIM in the phone? And, for data I would likely need to add an International Roaming Data package to my phone.
The other option would be to get a SIM in Spain, though I've been told that PAYG will not work for data. I found a website that advertises pre-paid vodafone SIMs for Spain: Spain SIM cards - spainSIM.com
Does this look like it would work, i.e. would I be able to data (web browsing, emails) and make local phone calls? I've read somewhere else that I would need to ask AT&T to "de-register" my PIN in order to get the data plan to work with a new SIM?
I'd like to minimize my cost, the vodafone SIM may end up costing just as much as roaming with my AT&T SIM...tips?
