Default New to Java and Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I am looking to create a project using Java and the Blackberry for my college senior project. I was looking for some advice as to what I should read/study to learn the fundamentals of using Java with the Blackberry. I have not taken a Java programming class yet, but would like to get a head start.

Thank you,
Tom

If you are new to java i would start with some fundamentals there.
The most important documents to start programming BB, at least for me, were BlackBerry_Application_Developer_Guide_Volume_1.pd f (and 2)
there are many examples inside and you can at least get the idea how to implement a function from there.

it is hard to make up new functions for the device itself though, if you want to make up a project i would say that you should think about something involving the BB but not relying entirely on it. (like using the BB as an end-device for some server application) Anyhow, first you need an idea for what you want to use the BB

if you have no problems with books written in german, then i have two good ebook-links for you:
'JAVA in 21 Tagen', as a 21-day tutorial-course and
'JAVA ist auch eine Insel', as a very good walkthrough and reference book from the view of a practice developer...
unfortunately i have no good english-ebooks for getting started with java :(

Tom,

Try this link:
Useful Links for New Mobile Programmers + BlackBerry SDK!

It was a sticky at the top of this forum category.

It looks helpful. It gives some good backgrounders too.
