Default Options for MDS Services

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I'm not a developer but I provide server and network support to a team of developers. I have zero experience with Blackberry systems, but we have a project that requires MDS Services. The developers don't believe mail messaging is required.

We have have a membership in the ISV Alliance, and thus qualify to obtain a devel copy of BES for Exchange, Lotus Notes, or Novell Groupware; as well as BES for MDS Applications.

My first question is - will BES for MDS Applications work standalone, without a mail server. I suspect yes.

My second question is - if I elect to go with BES with Exchange, will the MDS component that goes with it provide the same service as BES for MDS Applications?

As well, there is Blackberry Professional Expression which is free - does this have an MDS services component?

I simply need to provide an environment for testing MDS Applications with real devices, so any solutions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

One more thing - any installation and configuration guides would be a great help. I'm finding the Blackberry online support terribly lacking, which is why I've turned here.

Many thanks!
