Default No Icon Loads - 12-10-2007, 06:00 PM

Hi there,

I am a programmer and have not delved into the world of pocket pcs. I just acquired a BlackBerry Curve 8320 and love it to death with the exception for a few items:

1. No Video
2. Stupid Placement For MicroSd card.

Well I decided that I was going to test a simple app which can be found all over the place. The simple infamous hello world app.

I open up the jde create the workspace, project, java file the code and build with no errors. It creates the cod file needed. I also create an alx file as well.

It does not matter if I use the alx file and the desktop manager to install the app or if I use the javaloader -usb to load the app. It shows it transfers but yet it creates no ICON.

How do I fix this or what am I doing wrong. I have been all over the web and have not found a solution from this so I am hoping an already developer can help me out so I can start kicking out some apps.

Thanks, in advance
Shawn

Welcome to the Forums.

The 8320 does play video. It doesn't record video.

Another user will need to assist you with your other issue.

Yes I am sorry it does play video and nice at that. I did mean it does not record video. But if I have anything to do with it, my phone will record video but I need to figure out what I am doing wrong with deploying a sample app to the blackberry and it not showing and icon to run the app.

I went and looked but under options / applications it does not show the app there but yet if I hit the menu button and go under modules it shows it there.

So if someone can help me out and let me know what I am doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it.

I have followed several tutorials and have no luck with it producing an icon.

I have tried the visual studio plugin, I have tried it with netbeans and even the default JDE from BB itself. And I always get the same results. It will compile, transfer to the phone but no icon.

Thanks again,
Shawn
