Default [Bonus] Detect trackball rolling while running in background? Is this possible?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

For a different app, I have a need to be able to detect trackball roll events, even if I don't know the direction of the trackball roll, just the magnitude of the roll. The purpose is for me to be able to generate have visual or tactile feedback (flashes or 0.1ms vibrates, made bigger for rolls of multiple increments) instead of audible click feedback of trackball rolling. As I am a deaf guy, I miss the tactile feel of a trackwheel when upgrading to trackball devices.

Email me at [email address]. Free JiveTalk registration or Idokorro Mobile File Manager registration to the first person who can email me instructions for me to do trick. (even if it's just a 1-line Java program). Alternatively, three free BlackBerry videogames of your own choice from magmic.com or bplay.com if you are not a programmer.

If impossible, this prize pot is open to include RIM employees or VIP contacts that can pull the strings at RIM management to expose the proper API call (It can be blocked by default by BES policy, so no security issue). You don't even need to be a computer programmer to qualify for this particular pot.
