Default Equivalent to platformRequest for non MIDlet apps

Please Login to Remove!

I've searched and searched and searched, but I can't find a definitive answer to this.

I'm trying to find a way to launch a URL from an app that extends UiApplication. The only thing that I can find involves the Browser class, which requires signing to run. I don't really want to spend $100 bucks right now as I'm just doing this for fun. (I doubt the resulting app will even be that useful.) The other option I've found is to extend MIDlet and use platform request.

Is there any way to launch a URL from a UiApplication app that doesn't involve code signing?
