Default Choosing the right Data Transport Method

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I'm busy working in a blackberry application that needs to access external web resources. As well explained in papers like Livelink - Redirection
I basically need to choose between three types of connection: MDS, TCP/IP or WAP Gateway.

Looking at more robust j2me application i guess they do some processing trying to find an appropriate/working data transport method.

Willing to share... is there any good ideas to help choose the best data transport method to use in an application without user interaction?

I can think in a diagnostics approach which i first try MDS then IP Gateway... if none of those works i can for example try predefined WAP IP/APN for a chosen gateway (knowing it before through User Agent for example).

Appreciate any answer/discussion.

Have a good day for all,
Cheers,
Artur
