Default ESS can send but not receive emails - 06-30-2008, 12:20 PM

Hi all,

I'm working with the default ESS and simulated device that comes with JDE 4.5. I can get the simulator to send emails, but I can't get it to receive. What's strange is that when I send an email to the device, I get the information and the message to show up on the ESS's command prompt feed, which means it reached the ESS, but then right afterwards, I see the following:

<Fri Jun 27 16:33:17 PDT 2008>: [82] :<DEBUG>:<LAYER = UDP, EVENT = Sending, SIZE = 301, SOURCE = , DESTINATION = ? : ?>

I'm guessing that last DESTINATION tag in there is a bad thing, because it never gets to the simulated device.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Hi!

May need you to provide more information regarding the issues you're having. Which simulator (device model, OS version) are you using for the device? Which simulator are you using for ESS?

I tend to set up the ESS by using "Connected Mode" and providing the outgoing and incoming mail host addresses along with my username and password. Then I click the "Load Test" button to make sure the ESS is communicating correctly with the mail server to download mail.

Of course, I've never been able to get the simulated device to *send* email, so perhaps I'm not doing everything correctly. And remember: the latest release of ESS is 4.1.4 (which I haven't used). The 4.1.2 release is still available, and that's always worked for me when I've set it up correctly.

Cheers,

karl
